LIMBO – Uncertainty. A transitional state. The waiting game. (Just for reference, I’m talking about the literal meaning) Being in limbo literally means not knowing the outcome of something. Waiting for something to occur.

I think in terms of relationships, a little bit of (short term) limbo is a good thing. It’s excitement, or maybe tension. People crave that to a certain degree, I think.

It’s that moment of flight or fight. Leap & have faith that the net shall appear. All great things come at great risk. Fortune favors the brave. Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.

Connections – ArtLove Day 10

February 10, 2010

junk mail paper hearts art collage by michelle christina

Sometimes it’s a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence. ~David Byrne

I really like the idea that people have a whole greyscale of love emotionality to be shared with the world. A heart is not a finite resource to be hoarded & kept secret. It is best reused often & shared with many.

The above photo collage is a collection of recycled junk mail paper heart cutouts laid out on black textured construction paper. Tweaked a wee bit in photoshop.

This is day 10! You can more about the artlove project here.

“We have great chemistry”
In their efforts to better understand what makes people fall in love (and perhaps what love is), scientists have categorized love into three basic stages: lust, attraction & attachment. The chemicals listed in the illustration above all purportedly play a part in the three phases of love. (Sourced from this article on wikipedia)

Immortal Love Emily Dickinson Quote Illustrated by Michelle Christina

Emily Dickinson was an American poet (born & raised in Mass in the 1800’s). She was prolific, reclusive, and her work tended to focus around themes of death and immortality. Very little of her work was published while she was alive.

“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality”

Crush – ArtLove Day 5

February 5, 2010

Crush – schoolyard crush, secret love, object of affection or desire, infatuation, puppy love. Actual definition of the word crush: to press or squeeze with a force that destroys or deforms. Oh, the irony.

Other [unrelated] notes: Crush is the name of a Bon Jovi album that I really dig. It’s also the name of about a dozen other random albums as well.
